Kathy's Paper Moon

in Birthday&middot Technique

Let’s Start with Balmy Blue

Where do you start when making a card? For this card, I knew I needed a Birthday Card and that the recipient’s favorite color is blue. I also knew that I somehow wanted to incorporate the beautiful flower bouquet from the Awash in Beauty Designer Series Paper. I also wanted to include a layer embossed with my favorite new embossing folder, Cane Weave. The blue in the flower bouquet is Balmy Blue so I got started there…

Funny how I started with just a couple of ideas and it grew into a card from there! The Pansy Patch stamp set has perfect sentiments and will stay in my stash forever!

When I layed the Cane Weave embossed Basic White layer on the Balmy Blue card base it just felt blah so I decided to add a very thin layer of Night of Navy. The flower bouquet was fussy cut with scissors and patience. The Happy Birthday sentiment was stamped with Night of Navy Classic Ink on a scrap of Basic White and punched out with the Double Oval Punch. I punched the scalloped oval using the same punch out of Balmy Blue, attached the two ovals with adhesive and popped the finished oval up on Dimensionals. I added Brushed Brass Butterflies for a finishing touch! But wait, there’s more…

Gotta have a pretty inside to match our pretty outside, right?!!! I stamped another sentiment from the Pansy Patch stamp set on the inside and added a flower cut from the edge of the designer series paper. I also added the same thin Night of Navy border to the Basic White layer to make it pop!

Well, it appears my photography skills need some work but if you look real close you can see I added a 1/2″ border of the beautiful Awash in Beauty designer series paper to the left-hand side of the envelope. What do you think? Would you be happy to get this birthday card in the mail?
