About a year ago Cindy Brumbaugh at cindyleebeedesigns.com created a fun fold card that I thought was unique and fun. Today I wanted to CASE (copy and share everything or copy and selectively edit) her card by using different elements. I have been obsessed with the Country Bouquet stamp set and Country Floral Lane Designer Series Paper to the point I have used them for my monthly stamping club, a stamping party and my Card Ministry group! I usually don’t purchase Valentine products for cardmaking because I purchase, use once or twice and then they retire but this stamp set has so many possibilities! In fact, the cards I made for this post are not Valentine cards but birthday cards for my friends and customers! Yes, I will get to tuck them into my Birthday Card Organizer to be ready for upcoming birthdays…win-win!
I love the bicycles, the colors…Sweet Sorbet, Petal Pink, Balmy Blue and Mint Macaron, and the Gatefold card design. However, I didn’t feel like the slide and lock mechanism was tight enough.
As you can see from the photo above, the slide and lock is made using 3 circles cut the same size. Two of the circles are folded in half and glued to the back of the scalloped circle with a strong adhesive. Then the third circle is glued on top of the circles folded in half. This makes the slide and lock mechanism. Cindy has an excellent video showing just how to make it.
The rest is just decorating…the fun part, right???
For this card I used (all supplies are Stampin’ Up! unless otherwise noted):
- Country Bouquet Stamp Set
- Balmy Blue cardstock cut at 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 2 1/8″ on each end of the long side
- Basic White (for inside) cut at 5 1/4″ x 4″ plus scraps for circles
- Country Floral Lane Designer Series Paper cut at 1 7/8″ x 5 1/4″; and a 1/2″ x 4″ strip for inside
- Layering Circles Dies…I used 2nd largest Stylish Shapes Die for my focal point; 2nd largest scalloped circle; and 3rd largest circle in Layering Circles Dies for Slide and Lock Mechanism
- Ink: Sweet Sorbet, Petal Pink, Mint Macaron
After making this card, I went to bed and had a dream about making this card better! Does that ever happen to you??? If I had all the cards I made in my sleep, I could fill a very large box!!! So the next morning I got to work making that card and I will show it to you on Wednesday!
Thank you for stopping by today! I can’t wait to show you the other card on Wednesday!!!
