I was lying in bed this morning thinking about this post. It’s been a year since I last posted to this blog. How do you re-enter the blogging world? What do you say? Do you just jump back in where you left off? Do you do an introduction? So many questions! I decided to share a few of my passions with you and hopefully you will share some of yours with me in the comments.
- Hospice…I have been a Hospice Volunteer since 2005 or 2006 with a break during COVID. Every patient I’ve had has been different and required varied skills from me…who knew I could be quiet??? Hospice has become a part of who I am. I do want to add that all Hospice Organizations are not created equal. I happen to be blessed with a good one close by. My dad was on hospice in another area of the state before he died and they were wonderful. My mom is currently on hospice.
- Making and sending handmade cards…My first cards were made on the computer on a sheet of printer paper and folded in quarters back in the 90s. Then came rubber stamps and heat embossing and finally in 2010 I became a Stamping’ Up! Demonstrator. I have a stamping club that meets every month; a Card Ministry group at church that meets every other month; a Zoom crafting session every month; and a few other Zoom crafting sessions here and there. At first it was all about making cards (which I love) but a couple years ago it became more about SENDING cards to bless others. Receiving a handmade card in the mail is…priceless!
- Homeless Project…At my church we currently have a program going for the homeless. We purchased items in bulk on Amazon…toiletries, gloves, hats, socks, rain ponchos, etc…then packed everything in drawstring backpack-type bags along with a handmade card that has a gift card for someplace to eat. We recently watched the movie 5000 Blankets on Amazon Prime so I am thinking we might need to include a blanket with our bags in the Fall.
These are the cards I made to put the gift cards in…
Card Recipe:
Card Base…Basic White Thick Card Stock cut at 5 1/2″ by 8 1/2′, scored at 4 1/4″ and 6 3/4″
Front Panel: Fresh Freesia Card Stock cut at 2 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ and Meandering Meadows Designer Series Paper cut at 2″ x 5″
I stamped the far right edge with a Bible verse from the Courage and Faith stamp set then folded the 6 3/4″ score line to make a pocket for the gift card. I used Tear & Tape Adhesive on each end of the pocket to close. And that is it! Easy Peasy!!!
This last picture shows that the card is as varied as the designer series paper you choose to use. This gift card holder design could be used for so many occasions just by changing up the sentiment and designer series paper. I hope you give it a try.
Don’t forget to tell me in the comments what YOUR passion is. Till next time…Happy Stamping!

Very good! I have stopped blogging from time to time, I guess I figure, start where you are comfortable. That bag seems like a neat idea.
