Card Ministry 101 — Monochrome

Welcome to Card Ministry 101! Today we are going to make monochromatic cards! These are so fun…and easy…because we are working with just one color plus white! With one color of card stock, one ink pad and one stamp set, we are going to make two cards that are similar but different!

I just want you to know that I won’t show you a card I wouldn’t be proud to send myself so even though I should some super simple cards, they are still lovely and I would be happy to send them to friends, family or customers!

I am frequently in need of a card for a friend who is sick or for sympathy or someone having a hard time and the sentiment for this card was perfect! This first card is the super simple card for this week…

The images in this stamp set are sooo beautiful I really wanted to add more to this card; it was a struggle but sometimes less is more! Maybe if I were to make it again I would center the sentiment but my thought was to not make it too perfect so I made the sentiment slightly off-center.

Don’t forget to stamp the inside! I didn’t put a sentiment inside because I want to save the space for writing my note.

And make your card recipient feel really special by stamping your envelope as well!

Card Recipe:

  • Gorgeous Grape card stock (item #146987) base cut at 4 1/4” x 11”, scored at 5 1/2”
  • Whisper White card stock (item #100730) cut 2 at 5 1/4” x 4” (one for front and one for inside)
  • Beautiful Promenade stamp set (item #146842)
  • Highland Heather ink pad (item #147103)

Now for our stepped-up version…

Just a few little tweaks and we have a whole different card. As you can see, I used the same size card base but turned it portrait instead of landscape. I cut the stamped piece down a bit and added some designer series paper in our color. I stamped the flowers a second time on a separate piece of card stock then cut them out and popped them up on Mini Dimensionals. For the finishing touch, I added sequins and pearls!

Again I stamped the inside, this time adding a sentiment.

Do you love the envelope?!!!
