For several months I waffled on starting a Coffee and a Card group at our local coffee shop, the Perk and Brews. Who would come? Would they be interested in making a simple card and visiting for a bit? Did I really have time for this? But in October, I bit the bullet and asked the coffee shop owner if she would be willing to let us do this little venture on a monthly basis. I thought if she said NO, that would be the end of it but she said YES and why don’t we start the very next month!
My idea for this group is to create a space where new, wannabe cardmakers can learn without feeling the pressure to own everything to get started. And the projects will be nice enough that even experienced cardmakers will enjoy making and sending the cards.
I would also like to encourage cardmakers to SEND cards! WHAT??? Yes, some of us cardmakers are guilty of making but not sending:( Last January, I made it my mission to SEND MORE CARDS! By the end of December I had made 285 cards and sent (either mailed or hand-delivered) 274 cards! I surprised even myself!!!
I had the idea of creating flyers to put up at the Perk and Brews and the local Post Office. They were so much fun to make. They are 8 1/2″ x 11″ and slid into a page protector.
At the November meeting we had three ladies and at the December meeting we had four. If all goes as scheduled, we will have eight this week…five for the 2:00 session and three for the 3:30 session. I fully expect that by Spring, I will be full with six in each session!
The really funny part is it’s called Coffee and a Card but so far we have ordered everything BUT Coffee. My favorite beverage when out and about is an Iced Chai with Almond Milk…yum!
I am really happy I took the plunge to step outside my comfort zone to try this new endeavor. Is there something you have been reluctant to start?
Thanks for stopping by today!
Hello Kathy! I’m so excited for you and you’re new adventure. Your cards are gorgeous and I wish I didn’t live so far.
Welcome, my friend! Too long I let this blog sit here and gather dust! I am excited to be able to really work my business and blog about it! As you know, I LOVE making cards and it’s so much fun to share that love with others!
It sounds creative.
