Do you ever wake up super early in the morning and are sooo excited you just can't go back to sleep? Well, this morning was one of those mornings for me. Seven years ago I retired from my job, signed up to be a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator and started blogging about my retirement experience over on http://KatsRetirementJourney.blogspot.com but kinda got lost in the process. Until today, I had not blogged in two years (insert sad face here). When I started blogging it was for me. I didn't really care if anyone else read what I wrote but as people read and responded I got excited about sharing just as I am excited to share with you today!
My plan is to share the cards and other papercrafts I make with you plus tips and tricks to make your papercrafting experience fun and successful! I am still learning and as I find new techniques and tips, I will share them with you!
TODAY, is the launch of our new 2017-2018 Stampin' Up! Catalog! WOW! There are so many great products in this catalog to create stunning projects for your family and friends!
The project I have to share with you today is a Fancy Fold Card that was different than any I had seen previously and I couldn't wait to make it! Pair that with the very versatile Eastern Palace Suite on page 19 of the new 2017-2018 Stampin' Up! Catalog and I think I came up with a winner; what do you think?
The style of fancy fold is called Double Front Fold and is a card in a card…sort of! I originally saw it done by Lisa Curcio, another Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. I used the Eastern Medallions Thinlits to create the Sunflower and the Flourish Thinlits for the leaves. Have I mentioned how much I love my Big Shot and Thinlits? No? Well, that will be another post because I can truly go on and on!
Page two of this card uses the Eastern Beauty stamp set and Flourish Thinlits. Now for most cards that would be it but, wait for it…
WOW! Can you see why I was so excited about this Double Front Fold Card? Now for the recipe…
CARD RECIPE:
- Eastern Beauty stamp set
- Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black and Daffodil Delight
- Old Olive cardstock (base) 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", fold at 4 1/4" then cut 2 1/4" off the front panel
- Whisper White cardstock (insert) 5 1/4" x 8", fold at 4"
- Daffodil Delight cardstock (cut 2) 3" x 3 1/2"
- Whisper White cardstock (cut 2) 2 3/4" x 3 1/4"
- Sunflower is cut from Daffodil Delight and Chocolate Chip cardstock using the Eastern Medallions Thinlits and the Layering Circles Framelits using Early Espresso Cardstock. Leaves are cut from Old Olive cardstock using the Flourish Thinlits.
Well, that's it for the first post on my wonderful new blog created by my dear friend and mentor Celia Cawthon! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! Please leave a comment to say Hi! and to let me know what you would like to see in future posts! Some of my ideas are Throwback Thursday (where I share something I made way back when); Tips and Tricks; CASE the Catalog (where I recreate one of the cards shown in the Stampin' Up! Catalog and add my personal touch); Let's Get Personal (where I share a little bit about myself…trust me, you couldn't handle it all at once!)
Thank you for stopping by!
Kathy
